I may be a little excited!! I'm a bit of a late arrival, having only discovered the existence of Flight Rising a couple weeks ago, but I am still really excited! Anyway, I'm Inventrix (I was going to use Inventrix as my username on FR as well but I just learned a little while ago that it also functions as your clan's name so I need to come up with something better, ahhh) and I will be playing a wind clan when the game opens. My main interests with the game are breeding and, probably, writing little roleplay-esque stories about my dragons and possibly actually roleplaying with people if I actually get up the courage to do so. I haven't come up with a good name for my starting dragon yet, but it is going to be a male Fae with Fire/Navy genes. Unless I happen to pick a different dark blue on the day of, but I'm pretty sure I'll be going with Navy.

Hey there Iventrix! <3 I'd love to roleplay with you sometime, and trade. I'll be known as Opal if I can get on fast enough to snag it, so I'll be known as The Opal Clan. No idea what my progs names will be, but eventually I will use them to breed my main character, Opalescence. My custom however will be white primary and white secondary, if you're ever interested in trading~

Ooh, that sounds cool! I've been wavering on putting together a concept for my clan and starter (I like that, progenitors!) but now I pretty much have to or I won't know what name to register with! xD
White could be very interesting so I'll probably be interested in trading - especially if my randomized progenitor has green. I saw you wanted greens in your hatchling thread.
(Actually, come to think of it, greens would breed really nicely with the orange/blue...)
I'll have to poke around the roleplay section a bit and see what you guys are up to!

Haha, I've had my name roughly picked out since I found out about this site, the only thing I had to narrow down was a male or female starter (I'm probably going to go with male now) and to fine tune my name. Decided I'm just going to go with 'Opal'. Short. Simple. Sweet. Recognisable to say the least. White, I've found, will be very interesting to breed with anything in the green range, as slightly yellower-greens when bred with white will yield colours between white and say, leaf, so I'll get browns, creams, pales, pinks, reds, orange, yellow and some greens. Whites when bred with a more blue green will yield ice, greys, blacks, purples, blues and some greens. That's why I'm after greens~ So I can have a super broad range when it comes to babies. Please do excuse the massively long posts in the roleplay section, honestly. ^^; The people who roleplay in there enjoy writing up large posts, and I post to match my partner, so I post large posts as well. It's not all too intimidating or scary. And that's certainly not the only way to roleplay, rest assured. ^^

Oh man is there anywhere with more information on how different colors cross-breed? I have been wondering about that for a while. Is it a split range or a spread around the original colors or something else entirely? ...Did that question even make sense? XD

Here's a complete colour wheel of all the available colours for FR. Now, when it comes to breeding you take the colours of one parent, and the colours of the other, and find the shortest distance between the two. Whatever colours fall within that range are the potential colours for your offspring. So, say for instance I were to breed two dragons together. A has white primary, obsidian secondary and leaf tertiary. B has magenta primary, banana secondary and caribbean tertiary. The primary colour of the hatchlings only have a maximum of five colour outcomes, White to match A, Magenta to match B, and then the three colours that fall between the two parents colours; pink, rose and maize. The secondary colour of the hatchlings has a much broader variety for colour options, as obsidian and banana sit on completely opposite sides of the colour wheel. However, banana sits to one side, where the shortest distance is the span that covers the greens, blues and purples. However, had parent 'B' had Ivory for it's secondary colour, we would have gotten the range of colours that include the browns, reds and pastels. And then of course you have the tertiary, which has more variety in colour than the primary, but less than the secondary, because of the two colours placements on the wheel. ^^ Also, another nifty little thing to note. You won't see the tertiary colour at all. Any extra colours you see will be accent colours to either the primary or the secondary colours, unless a tertiary gene is applied. For instance, the belly colours of dragons are an accent colour to the primary colour. ^^ It's where body genes get their colours from.

Ah- ha. Well that is certainly very interesting. So with the right three or four dragons, you can breed virtually any combination. ...*plots* Thank you for the explanation!

You're welcome~ ^^ I've been plotting my breeding schemes for a while now. Glad I could help out and that this actually makes sense to you! Haha.

Inventrix No worries This was designed to be a place for people to come and discuss FR and make friends before the site opened. Now this will be a permanent place for all of us to enjoy each others company and ideas. We respect each and every member and have fun. That's how I think this place is so awesome anyways haha

Welcome aboard to the board! Lucky you, some of the people here have been waiting years XD I've only been waiting a little less than a year. As a beta player, I can guarantee it's going to be GREAT fun! Wind's an excellent choice too, though I'm biased since my girlfriend will be Wind. My clan/account name will be JCStitches and I'm a Light player. Perhaps we'll end up trading at some point ~ I enjoyed your input on the gem-treasure conversions. I hope you'll continue to share your thoughts on issues as they come up! It's nice and small and friendly here (as we all keep saying) so if you like RPing, this is definitely the place to give it a shot.

Hi there Inventrix! (cool name btw! ^^ )Welcome to the club! I'd love to read your RP stories at some point. Ive never RP'ed in my life, and I guess Im too shy to give it a go, but I will be having some background stories on my clan and each of my dragons in FR I was thinkinh about the name Gaea, but since you said yours might not be a good clan name, I started doubting about mine. So I might go with something else, such as Silverleaf (tho I actually wanted to name one of my dragons that). Luckily I still have two weeks to ponder over my name Maybe we can trade things too, like hatchlings and familiars!

jcstitches: Thank you! I'm glad you thought it was interesting. I'm really enjoying how positive this community is - I almost didn't reply because most places you end up with people starting fights, but you all seem so polite about everything that I gave it a shot. I blame the common interest of dragons~ I know how the waiting-for-years thing goes! I did that for another game once... which was sadly a disappointment from the initial vision. This one doesn't sound like it's going to be, from the general enthusiasm, which is great. (No worries about bias; Wind is the best. ) Gaia: Thanks, I like my name too~ For my two cents, I think Gaea would be a great clan name, especially if you're going with the Nature flight. I'd probably consider keeping Inventrix if I'd gone with Lightning since that element has the whole technology aspect, but for how I want to play a Wind clan it just really does not suit at all. *sigh* Honestly, I'm usually too nervous to actually join in people's RPs or to ask people to RP with me, so I guess we can keep each other company while watching all the other people have fun! *cough* I'm sure I'll be up for trading! I'm not sure what I want to do with familiars (goals etc.); I don't know much about them yet.

Hmm.. well if you say so, I might reconsider and keep Gaea.. I am indeed going to choose nature, and Gaea does represent the godess of nature in mythology.. I just don't know yet xD Same here about RPing, I love to read the stories of others and I'd love to add my own part, but Im just too afraid, so I mostly refrain from saying anything. Maybe Im also a bit hessitant since Im Dutch, and I might make really stupid mistakes in English grammar or something liek that xD (so if anyone is reading this, please tell me when I make a mistake! Im trying to learn, but the English speaking and writing skills of most Dutch people are plainly horrible ) But I guess we are very lucky with the people on this forum, as you said to JC, everyone is so nice here, and open for discussion And I guess a few errors won't get them angry either As for familiars, Im your typical hoarder, so Im going to collect them all. But I also have some specific familiars I want to attach to specific dragons. Im going to give my dragons all kinds of names of fruits, plants, grasses, nuts and so on. Like Bamboo, which would fit a wind dragon perfectly, since in FR bamboo is kind of a symbol-plant of the wind-flight. There also happens to be a bamboo-butt cat familiar, which would be perfect to attach to Bamboo And of course there are the rewards you get from bonding with them. (you can visit your familiars and 'bond' with them once a day) Im going to try to max out the bonds with all my familiars, to get presents and treasure from them!
