Hello everyone. I stumbled upon Flight Rising during the kickstarter, promptly forgot about it because of real life, and just had a brainwave, "I have no bloody clue as to what I'm doing during the headstart period, not even what flight or even username for the game". I figured I should start devouring everything about the game in the few hours before it opens, maybe I'll get ideas.
I came upon these forums via Reddit, and everyone seems friendly and enthusiastic. You don't bite... right..?
A little about me: I'm a university student from Canada getting a degree in what most people probably consider boring (read: mathematics), and I like dragons. I'm also terrible at giving exposition without prompt, so if you have any questions about me, I shall try and answer them, otherwise, I need to catch up on some reading.

Oh, math! Applied or theoretical?
Also hello! No we don't bite, not unless people are okay with it at least, I think. I shouldn't speak for everyone, I'm relatively new myself. Anywho good luck preparing and WE'RE ALMOST THERE!

Well, I'm going to say "theoretical" because I don't specialize very much in dealing with how what I learn relates to real-world situations, but among my peers I would be leaning on "applied", mainly because I do a lot of statistics, which is viewed as impure theoretically.
I've also learned to be very specific, because it's a survival trait in the program.

Aha, statistics. That's cool! I had a lot of trouble when learning basic statistics. It was almost as bad as series. Bluhhh, series.
Being very specific is a trait I can definitely sympathise with. XD

Series are nice. Just don't ask me what they sum up to, and if they converge and where. And don't have me bother with ugly series with non-sequential indices. Basically, I only like series when they're formal and powerful.
