I'm jarlis and I also am anxiously waiting for FR to launch. I've followed Neon Dragon's art for several years so that is how I found about FR. I was not able to get in in on the beta test but have had fun reading everyone comments on the site.
I'm a long time D&D player (30 years and still playing every other week). I've collected dragons and fantasy figures since I was a child. I love reading, music and art. (I'm jarlis on DA as well) My current other obsession is painting miniature figures.
Nice to meet everyone! Looking forward to getting to know folks before the game launches!

Wow, nice. I always wanted to try D&D but I've only found one person who's ever played it, and sadly he only played at a friend's house who moved away (and the friend was the one with all the D&D stuff). Sooo, yeah, still never got that shot to try it yet. XD;

We have lots of fun with it but our group tends to do alot of RP. Some groups tend to be more focused on the battles and treasure. If you are really curious, go to the wizards of the coast website and use the store locator. Most gaming stores have weekly open nights where anyone can come in an play. It's a good way to see if you like playing.

I've thought about trying one of those open nights, but I'm deathly scared, not to mention awkward, around stangers.... let alone groups of strangers. XD;
But I like some of the stuff I have learned about D&D, just from listening to my friend or Googling things on the Internet. I'd definitely want to play a Tiefling. Rogue, probably, for class.

I can understand that, I'm a little bit like that myself. One of the people in our group is really shy, put her in a group and she completely shuts down.
Maybe look around online, there are people that run online games or play by email games. Maybe something like that, or look at D&D online.
I'm not really familiar with the tieflings, they are from the 4th edition of the game. We are old school and still play 2nd edition AD&D. It would be very expensive to try to replace all the books and resources we have as a group.
