Well I think one of the ways to work out rareness would be to look at the price of the breed change scrolls. As the rarer breeds should be more expensive (and the imperial would match up with the rarest or most expensive). I saw the spirals and snappers scrolls up on the site before it moved. If we use that we get...
(Common) Mirror, Fae, Tundra, Guardian < Pearlcatcher and Ridgeback < Spiral and Snapper < Wildclaw and Imperial (Rare)
Although technically Wildclaw and Imperial don't directly compare to the other breeds since one is bought via gems and the other can't be purchased anymore.

I agree with warpmind's model. Here's what Undel said about breeding percentage on Reddit.
By price we can assume Spirals and Snappers are T3. It's hard to judge where Wildclaws and Imperials fall, but it's obviously some tier above that. So... your odds of getting an Imperial egg from breeding one to a starter dragon ( Fae/Guardian/Mirror/Tundra)... are almost nil. Best would be to wait and buy a nice Imperial baby from the Auction House (which is what I'm going to do), or get a Wildclaw breed change scroll.

Assuming that the relationship between the Tiers is linear and using the percentages mentioned then a starter and an imperial would be a 92.5 / 7.5 % split.
Huh, this is all making me consider purchasing gems to get a wildclaw at launch. I was already planning on getting some gem gene scrolls anyway. Although I kinda have my first dragon all planned out as a guardian... down to the colour and gem gene scrolls...

That sounds like a good idea warpwind. I wonder if we can buy a Wildclaw one straight up.

I don't see why you couldn't. I think it would take a twenty dollar donation to get enough gems, but you could then buy the breed change scroll. Then you just buy a dragon with colors you like from the AH and change it. Or you wait for someone to breed a wildclaw and sell it's offspring, if you can't donate again so soon.

Did they just change the price of the wildclaw from 300 gems to 2000 gems? I really thought it said only 300 gems before.. Is my memory failing me, or did they actually change it. @snow; I think if the gem purchasing system is up and running at launch you should be able to buy wildclaws from the get-go. But you should not forget that items can be out of stock. So if everyone decides to do so they might be sold out. Luckily the system restocks about every 2 hours (if I remember that correctly) so you should be able to buy em soon enough

Me and my wishful thinking. Maybe Im messing up what I really saw and what I dreamt about these last couple of days. Seriously, FR is all I see at night when I close my eyes, and everyday I wake up thinking: oh Im gonna play again. But guess what?! Mistaken! xD Better start thinking of a gem-gathering strategy then Do you know any other ways to earn gems ingame? Apart from winning in the colliseum?

Dropped items in the collesieum, scavenging/digging, bonding with your familiars eventually gets you treasure chests that have gems, and you get 1 gem per day for keeping your clan's health above 80% . It was also mentioned that there would be other ways in the live version, so I'm interested to see where else Possibly the Adventure section, which wasn't up during beta. Edit: In beta they lowered the ratio of dropped items such as gems (which you only got from one particular time of enemy, though they say more will eventually have them too). Remember they want these things to be rare for a reason; purchasing gems is intended to support the site and it's expenses. Endlessly fighting will get you "more" gems, but "more" might be 3 in one day. The only other way I can think of is trading things for gems instead of gold. You can do that, but be aware most other players will be just as short on gems as you are.

That's true and Ill definitely purchase gems every once in a while just to support FR and the FR team, but I might not be able to do that whenever I might need it, cause you know,, Im a student with no job being poor But I have some money left over from what I wanted to donate during the kickstarter, but which I couldnt.. Damn the person who made up the rule that you can only back with a credit card!! But yeah, definitely gonna use that to purchase some gems..

You can use Paypal when the site is up and running, if that helps? Haha, I feel for you I will probably only be able to afford to donate once or twice a year and supporting kickstarter was a major and unprecedented splurge for me. I'm okay with this though; I have little to no interest in skins and will be saving up for breed change and gene scrolls instead. There are also gem only familiars to collect.

You could make a small purchase every, say, month and save the gems towards a larger goal. Depends on how well you save.

Im with you jcstitches about using them for scrolls and the familiars. I really want them since the more you have and the better the bonds the more of the rewards you can get

Thank god for paypal! I wouldnt know what else to do if I couldnt even buy gems! And yes that's gonna be my way too. I love the skins system, but I think it is very expensive, plus you already have so much to individualise and customise your own dragons, so that won't come as my first concern, but I'll definitely be focussing on the same things as you; familiars and genes! Gotta catch´em all!

The rareness is on a tier policy. Which from my research has proven to work in two ways. One is the breeding cool downs each breed has a set one. Tier one which is the starter dragons have a 5 day cool down. Tier two which are your treasure breeds have Pearlcatchers, ridgeback, snapper and spirals have a 20 day cool down. I havnt seen the wildclaw cool down so not sure which tier it falls in. Imperials are a tier Five have a 30 day cool down.
By which is why i dont think you will see the glut of baby imperials as we start unless people want their starter dragons on cool down for the first month. My plan is to breed my first next wait out my five days for them to hatch and maybe make the prettiest baby a imperial. I have a flow chart on this whole mess. I am excited to see what i get as my random male color is. I am also hoping some people have a little more money than me so they can buy the instant nest hatches and they will have LOTS of babies. I think with the three day head start kickstarters will have a little jump on the nesting and so on but after say the first 2 months it will all even out.
