I'm kind of curious: How, exactly, does the Bestiary work? Does it show you as having "collected" a familiar after you've attached it, or do you have to bond with it first?

The picture of a familiar you've caught shows in color. On the bottom right you can see "Locked" ( haven't caught one of those before) or like on the dwarf black unicorn you see here Xhaztol's Bestiary there's a net icon for having caught one (even if you no longer have it) and a word across from it indicating what level of bonding you've reached.

Oh, snazzy. So it shows not only how many familiars you've collected, but how much time and effort has gone into making them like you. I didn't even notice that. Thanks!

I hope no one minds me using an old thread, but I have a familiars-related question in case anyone knows!
Is there any actual game effect with having a familiar attached to a dragon of the same versus differing element? Like, is there a boost in, say, compatibility, or etc. if they're the same element, or does it not matter?

I don't believe so, Inventrix, but I do remember somewhere (maybe on the old FR forums before they got wiped) that they were considering adding familiar benefits later on, for coliseum or adventure purposes. Right now they just give you treasure and items for bonding with them.
