Was posting on the picture thread and decided I should formally introduce myself and read other's introduction posts while I'm at it
I was born in the late 80's and grew up in a very rural part of the western USA, splitting my time between running around outside in an indian costume building forts and inside on line discovering forum boards about fantasy art and writing stories. I've since graduated from college with a degree in ecology and will be starting grad school in the fall, for intercultural studies. Would like to get a job overseas with a non-profit, doing agricultural research.
I'm pretty independent and don't require much social interaction to be happy- I like social events, but I don't seek them out. While in college some friends dragged me to Sakuracon and we had a blast together. Since then it's been a yearly tradition and I've just started cosplaying- I cosplay as original characters and use it as an excuse to show off my masks and sewing. we joke we all went to school to learn how to be confident children, as all of us entered college as reserved, mature young adults and came out as outgoing, immature anime enthusiasts.
I am drawn to FR because NeonDragon's art has always been a source of inspiration for me. I encountered her work back on Elfwood an eon ago and followed her webcomic while it was running. On-line social games like Neopets and Horse Isle were a positive, nostalgic part of my childhood and I'm excited to see what she and her team can make of FR.
My DA galleries:
Yolaron for art that doesn't have a narrative. I pretend it's for 'portfolio' things but I'm not fooling anybody.
Kaljaia for story-related and worldbuilding art. Can be wacky at times but I enjoy myself there.
Everland-stables for art relating to the HArpg game. I've been on that bandwagon since its beginning and still play casually.
Yolistory for written things. Can be old, odd and very strange, but I'd like to think it contains some interesting bits.
Random facts about me that work well for games of 'never-have-I-ever' or 'two truths and a lie' (except these are all true)
- never been kissed
- have skinned a coyote
- never tasted coke or pepsi
- have eaten rattlesnake
- never spoken to an on-duty police officer
And so here I am!
